Bridal Samples Are Designed for Trying On
Unlike everyday clothing stores, bridal boutiques don't carry every gown in every size.
Instead, we carry carefully selected sample dresses that allow brides to experience different designers, fabrics, silhouettes and styles before placing an order.
Once you've found "the one," your gown is then ordered in the size that's most appropriate for your measurements.
That means the sample you try on is simply a starting point.
What If the Sample Is Too Small?
Don't worry—this is incredibly common.
If a sample gown doesn't quite do up, your stylist has plenty of ways to help you visualise how the finished dress will look.
Depending on the gown, we may:
Leave the back open and use a modesty panel.
Use specialist bridal clips to gently shape the gown.
Hold the dress in place while you stand in front of the mirror.
Show you photos or videos of the gown fitted correctly.
Explain how the made-to-order version will fit once it's ordered in your size.
It's amazing how much you can still learn about a gown, even if it doesn't fully zip up.
What If the Sample Is Too Big?
This is just as common.
If a gown is larger than your measurements, we'll use bridal clips to shape the bodice and waist, helping you see the silhouette much more accurately.
While it won't be identical to your finished gown, it gives you an excellent idea of how the dress will look once it's made in your size and professionally altered.
Many brides are surprised by how dramatically a few well-placed clips can transform the look of a gown.
Focus on the Feeling, Not the Fit
During your appointment, try not to worry about whether every seam sits perfectly.
Instead, ask yourself:
Can I picture myself walking down the aisle in this dress?
Do I feel beautiful?
Do I feel confident?
Does this feel like me?
These are the questions that matter most.
The exact fit comes later.
Every Body Is Different
Every bride has a unique shape, which is why it's completely normal for sample gowns to fit differently from person to person.
You might find one gown fits beautifully through the bust but is loose at the waist.
Another might fit your hips perfectly but not quite close across your back.
This doesn't mean the dress isn't right for you.
